The records in this series pertain to financial aspects of the mission work of the Women's Missionary Society/United Lutheran Church Women (WMS/ULCA). The records are from 1922-1962. General correspondence includes monthly statements of WMS/ULCW trust funds and annuities, notices of annuity interest checks sent from the Board of Trustees to the General Treasurer, information concerning particular bequests, and requests for the release of funds to purchase bonds. In addition to general correspondence, there are monthly financial statements pertaining to trust funds and annuities; treasurer reports, both quarterly reports and those generated for administrative meetings; copies of an audit of WMS financial records for 1927-1928; a ledger from 1947-1950 pertaining to trust fund monies; and detailed listings of WMS/ULCW annuity bonds and trust funds. Certain folders titled "Financial Records" contain correspondence with particular financial statements included. In addition to general records there are many records pertaining to specific programs, projects, and funds contributed to by the WMS/ULCW. There are records pertaining to the India Centennial Fund, a special appeal fund to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Lutheran church mission work in India, and the India Centennial Fund Committee. There are many records related to WMS/ULCW transactions involving trust funds, annuities, and investment in common stocks. Fidelity-Philadelphia Trust Company was the custodian of these funds, and the records include correspondence, purchase notices, sales notices, statements of assets, quarterly statements of transactions, and investment statements. Records pertaining to the sponsorship of women students from overseas churches include correspondence involving funds disbursements, receipts for payment, copies of bills, statements, and ledgers outlining yearly support given to each student. The records are in good condition, and an order was imposed upon the series at the time of processing, creating several categories and chronologically arranged thereunder.
